My daughters, my husband and I stayed at the Allegro. The grounds were well taken care of with excellent eye-appeal. While one of my daughters loved the PADI diving programs and went for one or two dives a day the other daughter enjoyed snorkling both off the beach and with the PADI programs. My husband and I stayed on the beach and/or enjoyed the "relaxation" pool. The food was not excellent but was quite adequate. Breakfast buffet featured french toast, pancakes, bacon etc. and freshly prepared eggs in any style. Likewise the lunch and dinner buffets were also adequate. Unfortunately the hotel had only 2 restaurants available not the five as advertised. They counted the "Mexican" and the "Oriental" as available restaurants but these were only in service one or two times per week and required reservations. In the ten days we were there we were only able to get reservations once at the Mexican restaurant (the food that night was great,) We had two connecting rooms which were ok. When we got there our toilet would not flush but that was taken care of right away. Hot water in the shower was not always available except when we let it run for 20 minutes of so. Storage space in the rooms was minimal and consisted of a closet with 6 cubbyholes and a hanging rod. On the last day of our stay they gave us a 2-drawer chest. We opted for a "deluxe" update which cost us extra. For this extra charge we received a bowl of fruit with 2 apples, 1 banana and 2 plums. I am not aware of any other benefits except that we were close to the beach and we had a flat-screen TV. The staff was great. We will return.

It was a great vacation and the hotel was great. Located about 30 minutes up the beach from down town. That's good because there are a bunch of quiet beaches just up the road. The staff was nice and the place was clean. The room was pretty basic with good AC. The food was good and free. The hotel has a PADI dive shop right on the beach. The diving was just awesome. Go rent a Jeep and tour the island and stop at the restaurants that are right on the ocean for some good cold beer, tequila, chips and pico de gallo (they didn't have salsa). At night head down town to Pepe's for some really awesome food. I would love to go back anytime. Fun Notes: Cab rides are $16 each way to the plaza and $20 to the airport. Gas prices are in pesos not US Dollars. Make sure you get a cool looking vacation hat because the sun is HOT! Go on the tequila bottling factory tour for all you can drink samples. Make sure you got a cold Corona on hand and the radio set to that all 80s station they help with the heat when driving the Jeeps (No AC!) and dune buggies. Also the hotel has an Olympus Tours desk will take care of anything you need. This guy is good and he knows all the best romantic spots and recommended Pepe's. My wife wanted dinner there every night. Remember that the iguanas don't bite even if you chase them. Most important remember this is Mexico so relax and have a good time. Live to Dive!

I have stayed at Allegro Cozumel twice now and it is still one on my favorite vacation resorts. This is because of the beautiful scenery and location, Also they have a 5 star PADI dive center right on the grounds so it makes Scuba diving an easy venture. The resort grounds are extremely clean and very wide open so it gives it the element of privacy. On the downside though, I have to say the food is terrible. Its buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner which is a huge let down. I personally do not eat at buffets, so was pretty much left to eat fruit the whole time. There is a layer of grease on all of the food and I know they are not using extra virgin olive oil, so its highly unhealthy, even though this did not stop some of the guest whom continue to shovel plate after plate of food in their mouths as they sat in their bathing suits at dinner. We stayed for 8 days so we got two reservations at their two Å La Carte restaurants. One is Asian Style and the other is Mexican. I will say the Asian restaurant is pretty good. So if you take away the people staying at this resort and the food I would give this resort a 5, but I have to give this resort a 4 overall.

We stayed last month for 10 nights #40Apr 2010#41. This was our 3rd time at the hotel. Only thing was the roof leaked very bad in the main food area when it rained hard. Staff works very hard and was very friendly. Could use a couple more towels and wash cloths to be left daily. A new dive shop had just opened. They were a little unorganized but were getting better. Nice people at Pro-Dive shop especially Hans and Michelle. The dive boats captain and crew work so hard and they are so nice and helpful. Cozumel diving was excellent!

That was our 5th stay in this hotel and it will probably be the last..so sad..Half the bars were closed, long lines to get drinks and food, night show only every other day, no place for teenagers to regroup at night, need to call three times to get the room cleaned, half the showerrs out in the water park...too bad because the staff is friendly , the rooms are nice enough and the setting is still beautiful..Invest on staff and service !!!!!!
